Abstract: Based on the materials of 50 Han male adult cadavers collected in South China in recent years, we have calculated the constants (a) and the regression coefficients (b) for estimating the stature by long bones as well as the coefficients of correlation (r) between the length of long bones and the stature. The value of the correlation coefficients varies within 0.516.913. This indicates that the degree of correlation is high. On this basis we have also calculated ten regression formulae by which the stature can be estimated. The correction value 0.6 mmX (age—30) is used to correct the error caused by age.
The results of the calculation by humerus and fibula, humerus plus radius and femur plus tibia are better than those by other bones. The regression formulae made in the present article can be used to estimate the stature of South Chinese.
