Abstract: This paper describes the distinguising feature and pattern of micro-wear of the drill tools made of vein quartz from Xianrendong site, Haicheng County, Liaoning Province. The author discussed the difference in shape between the trimming scar and used-wear by applying the methods of experimental archaeology. The lithic technology and function of drill tools were explained according to the standard which was established by the experiment.
On basis of this research, it is suggested that the micro-wear of drill tools from the Xianrendong site possesses mainly the characteristic of drilling, and were used for drilling holes. Therefore, they should be called drill tools.
