Abstract: Tingsijian microlithic site was found in 1990. The second excavation was undertaken in autumn of 1991 and 239 stone artifacts were gathered in situ.
On the basis of the study o f stone artifacts some characters could be show n as follows:
1. All artifacts a re very small in size.
2. Flakes a re mainly produced by direct hammer percussion and occasionaly by bipolar technique, microblades are flaked by indirect flaking method and all microcores are boat- shaped ones.
3. The tools are made on the flake except two specimens and include into scrapers, gravers, pointed tool, aw l and knife with blunted back. The scraper is the main type and the end scrapers a re common.
4. Mo st of tools a re retouched by hammer percussion and a few of them could be trimmed by pressure method.
According to comparative study of microlithes, stratigraphy and geomorphology of adjacent regions around Bohai Sea, the age of Tingsijian site could be dated to be the final stag e of upper paleolithic or slightly later.
