Anthropometric study of Tu nationality in Qinghai

Abstract: A survey of somatology and anthropometry on 251 persons of Tu nationality ( 131 males and 120 females, ranging from 20 to 55 y ears in ag e) living in Qinghai province was made in July amd August, 1995. The results are summarized briefly as follows.
Opening height of eye is medium in majority of males. The opening eye is high and wide in more than half of the females. The frequency of appeanace of epicanthus is higher than 50% in males while it is 40. 8% in females.
Eyefold of the upper eyelid was seen in more than 94% in both sex. Nasal index belong s to mesorrhine. Length-breadth index of head belong s mesocephaly. Morphological facial index belong s to hyperleptoprosopy , leptoprosopy and mesoprosopy in males.
The average statures a re 1634mm in males and 1543mm in females. From the cluster analysis covering 15 nationalities in China it can be seen that Tu nationality is closer to Dongxiang , Baoan and Qiang nationalities.
